Call for Papers
The CSBPS 2024 Doctoral Symposium is a one-day event to be held on Wednesday 1st May 2024 at Brunel University London, UK and online. The symposium will bring together doctoral students working on foundations, techniques, tools, and applications in computer science and give them the opportunity to present and discuss their research in a constructive atmosphere.
Scope
The aim of the Doctoral Symposium is to provide a supportive environment in which Ph.D. students can present and receive feedback on their research as well as useful guidance from colleagues and experts in the field. The symposium is also a forum for discussions and interactions between Ph.D. students and other participants in order to stimulate an exchange of ideas, suggestions and experiences.
The Doctoral Symposium will take place on Wednesday 1st May 2024 and will consist of plenary sessions and short invited talks from experts.
Who can submit?
The symposium is open to all Ph.D. students in Computer Science at Brunel University, at any level of their Ph.D.
We also invite master and undergrad students to submit a poster with their research.Key Dates

Submission Guidelines
Submissions should follow the structure below:
- Problem description and motivation
Describe the core problem of the Ph.D. and motivate its relevance. - State of the art
State of the art describes relevant related work. - Proposed approach
Describe your approach to solving the problem, methodology and any novel aspects compared to existing work. - Preliminary results (if any)
Describe the current status of your research and any relevant results obtained so far. - Conclusions and future work
Conclude and mention any future work directions.
Submissions must be no longer than 4 pages and must the 2-column IEEE Conferences template (either Word, Latex or Latex Using Overleaf) and submitted as a .pdf via EasyChair https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=csbps2024 .
Submissions must be single-author, without mentioning the supervisor's name.
Each submission will be reviewed by two academics from the department. Accepted submissions will lead to an oral presentation during the doctoral symposium.
Review process
Submissions will be reviewed by members of the Doctoral Symposium Programme Committee. Participants will be selected on the basis of their anticipated contribution to the Doctoral Symposium goals as well as the potential benefit to the participants.
Attendance
Authors of submissions selected for participation will have the opportunity to present their work during the Doctoral Symposium.
Participants will receive feedback both from a panel of experts and from other Doctoral Symposium participants. The participants will also have the opportunity to seek advice on various aspects of completing a PhD.
