The CSBPS 2020 Doctoral Symposium is a one-day event to be held on 25th March, 2020 in London, UK. The symposium will bring together doctoral students working on foundations, techniques, tools, and applications in computer science and give them the opportunity to present and discuss their research in a constructive atmosphere.

The goals of the Doctoral Symposium are to:

  • provide the participants independent and constructive feedback on their current research and future research directions;
  • develop a supportive community of scholars and a spirit of collaborative research; and
  • provide an opportunity for student participants to interact with established researchers and practitioners in the computer science community.

Submissions

Please use the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Author Guidelines to submit your Extended abstract or attached template

Submssion Templates

The extended abstract should not exceed 2 A4 page including references. We seek two kinds of papers. PhD proposal and Collaborative Extended Abstracts. PhD proposal extended abstracts only include one author and describe a PhD project. Collaborative extended abstracts can have more than one author from different PhD students. For the PhD proposal extended abstracts, depending on the stage of your PhD, include the following:
  • In your affiliation, include your research group.
  • The problem to be solved in your thesis (justify why this problem is important and make clear that previous research has not yet solved that problem).
  • Your research hypothesis (or claim).
  • The expected contributions of your research
  • How you plan to evaluate your results.
  • A description of the results achieved so far (if possible) and a planned timeline for completion.
For the Collaborative extended abstracts, authors should structure the 2-pages based on their work. But they should include:
  • An Introduction section at the start.
  • A Conclusion section at the end.
  • References

Students should submit their extended abstract through easy chair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=csbps2020

Review process

Submissions will be reviewed by members of the Doctoral Symposium Programme Committee. Participants will be selected on the basis of their anticipated contribution to the Doctoral Symposium goals as well as the potential benefit to the participants.

Attendance

Authors of submissions selected for participation will have the opportunity to present their work during the Doctoral Symposium.

Participants will receive feedback both from a panel of experts and from other Doctoral Symposium participants. The participants will also have the opportunity to seek advice on various aspects of completing a PhD.
